Safe Healthy Accessible Resilient Equitable (SHARE) Schools
The SHARE Schools Initiative bridges research and practice to unify school safety, climate, health, and equity efforts. It combats siloed approaches, promoting evidence-based solutions for student well-being and success across the United States. SHARE prioritizes education and youth development, justice for marginalized youth, and balancing school safety with socioemotional well-being.
Support the SHARE Schools Initiative
With the support of federal agencies and national partners, we’re already making an impact—but we need your help to expand this work and reach more schools across the country.
Your gift will up us:
- Develop and share evidence-based solutions that promote student well-being and academic success.
- Center the needs of historically marginalized youth and foster justice in education.
- Equip schools with tools and training that balance safety with socioemotional support.
- Expand access and opportunity for underrepresented youth in education and research.
Current funded projects
PRVNT School Violence Project
Developing school safety courses focused on School Resource Officers (SROs), guided by an interdisciplinary advisory board. Launching Fall 2025 for SROs, administrators, mental health professionals, and the community.
School Safety Program Evaluation
Assessing Arizona’s legislatively funded program placing Mental Health Professionals and SROs in schools. Findings reveal unique training and oversight but face challenges due to limited data on SHARE outcomes.
Investigating the Association between Immigration Policies, School Safety, and Education
Using national data to study state immigration policies, school safety, and education. Findings suggest restrictive immigration policies don’t reduce school crime or improve outcomes but may marginalize immigrant children.
Latina/o/x Researchers’ Support Network (LRSN)
Planning the LRSN, a support network for Latinx researchers to advance actionable research. Early findings show access, mentorship, and workshops boost career success and innovation in Latinx studies.
PEAC Lab
The PEAC lab focuses on the role of contextual influences in children and adolescents’ development, both in terms of their well-being and psychopathology. We consider the multi-level interplay between family, school, and neighborhood environments.

Discover how the Youth Inequality & Justice project explores the roots of racial and economic disparities among young people in the United States. This research initiative brings together data, analysis, and lived experiences to highlight the challenges youth face—and the urgent need for systemic change.
