Beverly Kingston, PhD
Beverly Kingston, Ph.D., is Director and Senior Research Associate at the University of Colorado Boulder’s Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence (CSPV). Her work addresses the root causes of violence through evidence-based, comprehensive approaches to school safety and violence prevention. Dr. Kingston has secured more than $50 million in funding to lead violence-prevention initiatives grounded in rigorous research and strong partnerships with communities, schools, and policymakers. She is a lead contributor to CSPV’s Safe Communities Safe Schools Model, implemented in more than 200 schools across Colorado, piloted in Indonesia, and expanded nationally since 2025. Her publications include a National Institute of Justice commissioned report on comprehensive school safety frameworks. She is also the author of the forthcoming book Soulshine: A Memoir of Courage, Healing, and Hope. Her research and commentary have appeared in Katie Couric Media, Rocky Mountain PBS, The Conversation, The Washington Post, and The Denver Post.
