Andrea Montes, PhD

Andrea Montes, Ph.D., is an associate professor in Arizona State University’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. After leaving New Mexico where she grew up, she earned her bachelor's degree from Arizona State University. She then went on to receive her master's degree and Ph.D. from the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida State University. Her research investigates questions related to justice system practices, what factors contribute to their effectiveness, and where the gaps between scholarship and practice exist, with a substantive focus on corrections, punishment, school safety, and school policing
