Ishmael Miller, PhD
Ishmael Miller, Ph.D., is a Assistant Professor in the Division for Advancing Education Policy, Practice, and Leadership at Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton College of Teaching and Learning Innovation. He earned his Ph.D. in Educational Policy, Organizations, and Leadership from the University of Washington-Seattle (UW). Dr. Miller’s research investigates PK–12 school systems and community-based education spaces to understand how systemic inequities emerge and are addressed through leadership practices and policy. Dr. Miller's work has received notable recognition, including the 2023 Practitioner of Distinction Award from the University of Mississippi School of Education, the 2023 Dissertation of the Year Award from the American Educational Research Association's Leadership for Social Justice SIG, and the 2020 Emerging Scholar award from the American Educational Research Association's Out of School Time SIG.
