The Arizona School Nurse Access Program (ASAP)
The Arizona School Nurse Access Program, or ASAP, funds and trains nurses for Arizona's rural school districts, with support from the Arizona Department of Education. The ASAP seeks to improve accessibility and quality of healthcare for K-12 students in these areas. Arizona State University will be evaluating the ASAP over the 2022-2023 school year.
The ASAP team additionally consults with the Arizona Nurses Association and Arizona Foundation for the Future of Nursing to gain insight into the profession and promote legislative advancement for Arizona’s nurses.
Family Check Up
Family Check Up is an existing intervention previously deployed in primary care settings. Family Check Up is now being adapted to school settings and piloted by school nurses as a component of the ASAP.
This pilot is led by Dr. Cady Berkel of Arizona State University.
