The Lives of Girls and Boys Enterprise (Lives) is a signature endeavor of the T. Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics. The Lives Enterprise is an interdisciplinary research and translational enterprise designed to address the real life issues and challenges facing girls and boys from preschool through emerging adulthood. Our mission is to enable girls and boys to form positive and supportive relationships with one another in school and beyond. To accomplish this mission, we study how girls and boys understand and relate to one another, the quality of those relationships, and how they relate to teaching and learning. We also develop, test, and disseminate school-based interventions that are designed to promote positive peer relationships.
Established in 2009, funding for the Lives Enterprise comes from: the T. Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics, The Challenged Child Project, the T. Denny Sanford Foundation, ASU's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the National Institutes of Health. With additional funding and effort, new initiatives and projects will be pursued.
