Biography

Richard Fey is a senior lecturer in the T. Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics at Arizona State University. He took the long road to academics. Prior to beginning college at 27 years of age, he had a varied life which included managing a business office, owning a small construction firm, and working as a professional stage actor.

Fey began teaching at Portland State University in 1999 as an instructor while completing his master's degree in sociology. While working towards his doctorate, he continued his focus on education as a teaching associate, and upon completion began his career as a lecturer at Arizona State University.

Fey’s substantive areas of specialization are: crime, deviance and delinquency, as well as the family and couple relationships.
