Biography

Dr. Casey Sechler approaches her teaching, research, and community engagement from a strengths-based perspective and explores opportunities to improve social contexts that facilitate learning and promote well-being across the lifespan.

Sechler teaches family & human development and sociology courses, both face-to-face and online. Sechler is also the co-chair of a summer fellowship program designed to support students from underrepresented groups as they gain exposure to and experience with research and careers in the social sciences. She is also affiliated with the Center for the Advanced Study and Practice of Hope where she supports research, academic, and community outreach endeavors. Other projects that Sechler is actively involved in include working collaboratively to develop, implement, and/or disseminate materials designed to promote compassion, empathy, and positive social relationships.
